Advertising Policy

How paid placement works on Security Standards Canada, what it can and cannot buy, and how sponsored content is kept separate from editorial.

Last updated July 8, 2026.

Security Standards Canada accepts paid placement. This page states plainly what that money can and cannot buy, because the value of the site depends on the line between the two being clear.

What paid placement can buy

  • A sponsored slot in a directory or category, always labeled as sponsored and shown separately from organic results.
  • A category or newsletter sponsorship, always labeled.
  • An enhanced profile with additional detail on the company's own listing.
  • A job posting.
  • Display placement, only in positions that are marked as advertising.

What paid placement can never buy

  • A higher organic ranking. Organic order is merit-based and is never for sale.
  • A Verified, Cybersecurity, Canadian-made, or any other trust badge. Badges are editorial and cannot be purchased.
  • A better or misleading description, or the removal of an accurate statement.
  • Editorial coverage in the knowledge base, news, or buyer guides.

How we keep it separate

Sponsored placements are labeled with the word Sponsored and are isolated from organic results, not blended into them. Sponsored status appears on the listing itself. Editorial content is produced independently of any advertising relationship, and advertisers get no review of editorial before it is published.

Disclosure

If a company on this site is a current advertiser, that is disclosed on its listing. Advertising never changes how a company is assessed for a badge or where it sits in organic order. If you believe a placement is not clearly labeled, tell us through the corrections process and we will fix it.
