Wireless intrusion and smart-home platform widely used by North American alarm dealers.
Optex
Manufacturer
Overview
Optex is a Japanese sensor manufacturer whose Americas operation serves the Canadian market. It makes indoor and outdoor intrusion detection sensors, including PIR and LiDAR technologies. The sensors protect perimeters, buildings, and open sites, and pair with alarm and video systems from other vendors. Detection sensors, not full systems, are its specialty.
Optex, from Otsu, Japan, is the detection specialist the rest of the industry builds around: outdoor PIR and dual-technology sensors, photoelectric beams, and the REDSCAN LiDAR series that draws precise virtual fences around assets and building faces. Where cameras observe, Optex detects, and its sensors exist to make alarms trustworthy enough to act on.
The Canadian use case is perimeter and outdoor protection in weather that defeats lesser sensors: critical infrastructure, utilities, car lots, and cannabis facilities, usually wired into a VMS or monitoring platform so a sensor event cues a camera and a human decision. Japanese manufacturing keeps it supply-chain-clean, and the REDSCAN line in particular has become the specifier’s answer where video analytics alone produce too many false alarms to monitor economically.
