Brivo opens its platform API to AI coding agents

Brivo's Security Platform API adds agent-ready documentation and tooling, aiming to make custom access and video integrations cheaper to build.

Brivo announced that its Security Platform API is now fully AI-friendly, with agent-ready documentation, management tools, and resources built so AI coding agents can build against the platform directly. It is a small announcement with a practical consequence: custom integrations that were previously too expensive to justify may now be a weekend job.

What changed

The platform API, which combines the Eagle Eye Video API Platform and the legacy Brivo API following the December 2025 Brivo and Eagle Eye Networks merger, now ships documentation and tooling designed for machine consumption. Brivo names support for the leading AI models, including Gemini, Claude, and OpenAI’s GPT, plus agentic coding tools such as Codex and Cursor.

Why integrators should care

Most access control platforms have had APIs for years. The bottleneck was never the endpoint, it was the developer time to learn it. If an integrator can point a coding agent at well-structured documentation and get a working sync between Brivo and a client’s HR system, visitor platform, or reporting stack in hours instead of weeks, the economics of small custom jobs change. Those one-off requests that used to die at the quoting stage, a niche report, a badge-provisioning hook, a dashboard for one department, become billable work.

The caution

Generated integration code still touches a security system. The same review discipline applies as with any code that can unlock doors or delete cardholders: least-privilege API credentials, code review before production, and logging on everything. An AI-friendly API lowers the cost of building. It does not lower the standard the result has to meet.
