Hanwha Vision released its first compact AI lineup in the X series: the XNV-A9016R at 8MP, XNV-A8016R at 5MP, and XNV-A6016R at 2MP. The pitch is full analytics in a small form factor, which has usually meant compromises.
The hardware
All three run on the Wisenet 9 system-on-chip with a dual NPU, splitting AI-based image enhancement from object analytics so neither starves the other. IR range is 25 metres, with the IR positioned externally to eliminate the internal reflection that fogs compact domes. The 120mm body mounts to a standard single-gang wall box, and the housings carry IP66 and IK10 ratings for indoor and outdoor use.
Privacy masking that keeps up
The notable software feature is Dynamic Privacy Masking, which automatically masks people, vehicles, faces, or license plates in real time. For Canadian deployments this is more than a checkbox. Sites that share video externally, retail loss prevention working with police, property managers passing footage to insurers, need a defensible way to protect bystanders. Masking that tracks moving subjects automatically is far more practical than frame-by-frame redaction after the fact.
Where these land
Compact cameras with real analytics fit the awkward middles: corridors, stairwells, small retail, multi-residential lobbies, and elevator cabs where a full-size dome is overkill but the site still wants people and vehicle classification rather than dumb motion. The single-gang mount also simplifies retrofits where boxes already exist. Worth a look for any project that has been quoting larger domes into small spaces by default.
