i-PRO’s first cameras with generative AI running fully at the edge began shipping globally in June, after their unveiling at ISC West in March. The X series fisheyes pair a true 12.5MP sensor with 360-degree panoramic coverage and, more importantly, a generative AI engine that runs entirely on-camera.
What edge generative AI actually buys you
The engine runs on Ambarella’s CV72 AI vision system-on-chip and enables natural-language detection and alerting without any cloud dependency. Instead of configuring from a fixed menu of analytics, an operator can describe a condition in free text, the vendor’s example is “person lying down”, and the camera alerts on it. That collapses the gap between what a site wants to detect and what the analytics menu happens to offer.
Keeping inference on the camera matters twice over in Canada. Latency and bandwidth are the obvious wins. The quieter one is data residency: video never has to leave the site for the AI to work, which simplifies privacy reviews for healthcare, education, and public-sector deployments.
Built like it expects scrutiny
The spec sheet reads like a response to procurement cybersecurity questionnaires: Secure Boot, signed firmware, and FIPS 140-3 Level 3 compliance. Outdoor models are rated IK11 and IP69. The cameras also support Docker containers, so third-party AI applications can run alongside the built-in engine.

Fisheyes have always been a coverage-per-dollar play. Adding open-ended, on-camera detection makes them an analytics play too, and the security posture is strong enough to survive federal and critical-infrastructure procurement.
