Overview

i-PRO Co., Ltd., spun off from Panasonic in 2019 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, brings over 60 years of imaging expertise to a new generation of AI-powered edge-computing cameras for security, public safety, and medical applications. The i-PRO X-series cameras are its most advanced line, embedding generative AI at the edge enabling free-text object detection and real-time alerts, while the i-PRO Active Guard plugin delivers 98 unique metadata attributes into major VMS platforms (Milestone, Genetec) for advanced forensic search and workflow automation. The company's Corner camera, i-PRO Mini, and U-series expand edge AI capabilities to compact and entry-level form factors. i-PRO is recognized for winning 10 major industry awards in 2024 and distinguishes itself through a unique AI Processing Relay application that upgrades legacy non-AI cameras from any manufacturer to AI-capable devices.

i-PRO is the former Panasonic security camera business, spun out as an independent company in 2022 and still carrying the Japanese engineering culture of its parent. Its cameras and multi-sensor units are known for imaging quality and for an AI strategy that pushes analytics onto the camera itself, including an open container approach that lets third-party AI apps run on the edge device.

In Canada, i-PRO competes in the same NDAA-clean tier as Axis and Hanwha, typically priced between them. It is a frequent choice in public sector and healthcare deployments with Panasonic install bases, since the migration path from legacy Panasonic systems is natural. Distribution runs through the standard national channels, with VMS support across Genetec, Milestone, and the other majors.
